This year (minus the 2-year COVID pause) is the twentieth year of our Foundation and The Player Charity Golf Event. After two decades, we are going to take a pause and reinvent the Foundation's fundraising efforts going forward. It's been a great run for our little event but it's time to change it up and see what's next for the Jeffrey Schwebel Foundation and our charitable giving to Camp One Step.
We started this event in 2001 to honor the spirit of Jeff and celebrate his memory with friends and family around us while we supported Camp One Step, where Jeff attended as a camper and later as a counselor, supporting their work with children battling cancer and leukemia. Over our tenure we have managed to raise a tremendous amount of money - "a little bit at a time" - helping the Camp and its most important piece, the kids!
We, of course, could not have done any of this and had all these amazing memories without you! We hope you'll come this year to celebrate our last hurrah as The Player, for golf or cocktails, dinner, or all of the above! Registration and donations if you can't join us are now open.
On behalf of Shelly, Robert, Ali, our families, all of the volunteers over the years, players, donors, sponsors, as well as myself, THANK YOU!
Cheers - Scott Schwebel / Co Founder & Volunteer
If you had the chance to know him, you knew his infectious personality. Jeff brought joy and outrageousness with him everywhere he went. The nickname "Player" was equal parts charmer, salesman, jokester, provocateur. The stories and laughter from his far too short life are truly endless and our golf event was designed to celebrate his spirt for how he played the game and lived his life.
